Apple to adopt curved OLED screen for next iPhone

Apple to adopt curved OLED screen for next iPhone

There have also been reports that Apple intends to reintroduce an all-glass look on its next model. Apple will have to turn to Samsung to get these displays, at least at first, as Samsung is the only company capable of manufacturing them in sufficient quantities for a device as popular as the iPhone.

Why the change? The biggest difference between USB-C and Lightning is the former's ability to charge a device in minutes, not hours.

(Web Desk) - Apple is going to ditch lightning port charging in iPhone 8 for a USB Type C port, Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday.

KitGuru Says: While switching to USB Type-C wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing, it would cause compatibility issues with current iPhone accessories.

The iPhone ditching the Lightning connector for a USB-C connection - the mobile industry standard - would come out of left field for Apple.

The Lightning connector replaced the 30-pin connector back in September 2012 and first debuted on the iPhone 5.

This is still very much a rumor, but there is a chance Apple could make the switch to USB-C.

Separately, earlier this month, noted Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted that Apple has three new wireless charging iPhones scheduled for this year.

We are not sure about how accurate this report is that Apple may replace their Lightning port on the iPhone with USB Type C. In its mind, the Lightning cable is already a universal connector, because it's the connector Apple universally uses on phones and accessories. The third model, believed to be known as the iPhone X or iPhone 8, is said to be a major iPhone update, offering a different design than what Apple will offer in the iPhone 7s and 7s Plus.

But you'll likely spend more than $1,000 if you wanna jump over to the iPhone 8.

Another advantage of Apple potentially using a USB-C port for the upcoming iPhones is that it could be compatible with the wall chargers that ship with newer MacBooks and competing devices like the Google Pixel.
