For the second time in two weeks, the Westside Jewish Community Center on Olympic Blvd near Fairfax Avenue received an e-mail yesterday containing a bomb threat.
The Asper Jewish Community Campus was evacuated Thursday after a threatening email was received that afternoon.
Police are now investigating both incidents. We will find whoever is responsible for this and bring them to justice.
The incident marks the second time the JCC has been targeted by threats this week. The first threat was made on February 20, 2017.
The building was evacuated as a precaution, and no explosive device was found on the premises.More news: Remy Ma Before and After Plastic Surgery: Watch Her Transform Over Time!
Sunday's threat coincided with the Jewish holiday of Purim, a festive commemoration of the defeat of a plot to exterminate Jews in ancient Persia.
"As a member of the Jewish community and the greater community of our city, I thought it was important we show support for our community and let people know we'll stand up against hate and bigotry any day", East said.
Officers said the threat claimed a bomb would go off at the center at 2:30 p.m. There have also been threats recently against other Jewish institutions, as well as vandalism at several Jewish cemeteries.
Sen. Chuck Schumer, a New York Democrat, called the bomb threat "despicable" given the center's service to the community.
