The Oklahoma State men's basketball team on Sunday was selected as the No. 10 seed in the Midwest Region for the NCAA Tournament.
Editor's note: Before you submit your office brackets today, take a look here at "John Rowe's NCAA Tournament Guide".
MI plays good defense but struggles on the glass, both offensively and defensively, giving up almost nearly nine offensive boards per game and rank 257th in rebounding margin (minus-1.8). It was Moe Wagner one day, D.J. Wilson another and somebody else the next.
Many people will look at this bottom portion of the bracket and say it is Louisville's to lose. He's averaging 20.8 points per game.
December 10: MI visits then-No. Quentin Snider is at 12.7 points per game and leads the team with 107 assists. Coming off a poor offensive performance (albeit in victory) against Texas, the scoring output, especially on the road, is a confidence booster for MI. If Michigan advances to play Louisville, the Wolverines will be an interesting contrast to the aforementioned Cardinals bricklayers, because Michigan can flat out stroke it.
OR and Louisville would be a superb round-of-16 game, the difference perhaps being Louisville's superior health. The defensive numbers for MI are troubling, as the Illini shoot 64 percent from the field and from three (9 of 14).
But ... it's a Tom Izzo team.More news: Sorry libs. Melania Trump's approval ratings take a nice jump since inauguration
January 27: Following the IL loss, the Wolverines win three of their next four, culminating with a 90-60 shellacking of Indiana. The big question is, can those guys play like stars for the next three weeks?
The worry out of the pick-and-roll game will be a repeat of what we saw on Saturday against Minnesota with Nate Mason.
In the First Pitch Invitational in Greenville, Michigan State handily defeated Furman, Presbyterian and Tennessee-Martin, all in slightly different fashions. MI is killed on the boards and the defense still has fundamental issues. Oklahoma State gave up 1.13 points per possession in Big 12 play and held just one conference foe below a point per possession in 19 tries. North Carolina and Duke? Underwood also said that he has had conversations with Beilein on the recruiting trail.
A calm and cool minded point guard that can score when needed? He is complete command of the offense, finishing around the rim, burying threes, and finding open teammates, plus leading Michigan's improved defensive attack.
That's points and rebounds. Walton needs stitches in his thigh but nobody is seriously hurt. This year's version played against Providence and SC so they've already faced a few Tournament-level teams.
No wins in March are easy and the Spartans found that out the tough way against Minnesota in the conference tournament's quarterfinals. After a nerve wracking Selection Show, we can now confirm that the streak is OFFICIALLY alive and the Spartans are headed to the NCAA Tournament for the 20th straight year. Jacksonville State is 6-0 against the spread in neutral site games, 6-2 against the spread as an underdog by greater the 13 points, and 4-1 against the spread against a team with a winning record.
And for the only senior who certainly will be on the court Friday when Michigan State takes on Miami (Fla.) in Tulsa, Oklahoma, as part of the Midwest Region, the next few days are vitally important.
