All of Australia is immensely proud of team's efforts, says board

Despite reports emerging that India might play Pakistan in a bilateral series in Dubai later this year if the government gives a go ahead to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Pakistan's cricketers, past and present, have told the PCB not to expect the Indian board to schedule any series with the country in the near future.

South Africa, in the same 12-month period, defeated New Zealand (1-0, both home and away), Australia (2-1) and Sri Lanka (3-0), while Australia lost to Sri Lanka (3-0), South Africa (2-1) and India (2-1) with their only series win being against Pakistan (3-0).

While India is awaiting government approval for resuming cricketing ties with Pakistan, Sarfraz Ahmed has come up with a freakish reason as to why India doesn't want to play cricket with their arch rivals.

The Indian government has once again rejected any possibility of cricket series between India and Pakistan proposed by BCCI.

If a bilateral series happens between the neighbouring nations, it would comprise three Tests, five ODIs and two T20 internationals, according to the reports.

According to Indian media, their board was ready to play series against Pakistan in November this year, and it required its government's permission for that.

"They came very close to winning the series, but did achieve Australia's first Test win in India since 2004. If the Indian Government says okay, we will talk to the Pakistan Government", he said. "Our players will now take a well-earned break, before we look forward to the ICC Champions Trophy in England", Peever concluded. The wicket-keeper batsman has attributed the lack of recent bilateral ties between the two Asian powerhouses to India's fear of facing Pakistan on the cricket field. Also, there is the FTP agreement that needs to be fulfilled and that's why the board is willing to travel to Dubai to play a series against Pakistan.

Earlier, former BCCI chief Anurag Thakur had claimed that there would be no cricketing activity between the two countries till the cross-border tension ended. "Unless the government gives its nod, the BCCI can not do anything", The Indian Express quoted a BCCI source as saying on Wednesday.

Sources also point out that BCCI had written to the government one-and-a-half months ago seeking its permission to finalise the tour.
