PCB board of governors not happy with Shahryar Khan's remarks

Apr. 05 (ANI): 18-year-old Pakistan leg spinner Shadab Khan, who made a dream start to his global career during the recently-concluded successful T20 series against West Indies, has been retained in the 16-member Test squad for the three-match series against the Caribbean side, beginning April 21 at Sabina Park.

The hosts are coming off an emphatic 3-1 loss to Pakistan in the preceding four-match Twenty20 global series, and find themselves under pressure ahead of the one-day rubber.

The 18-year-old made his worldwide debut in Pakistan's Twenty20 global series win against West Indies last month and was named Player of the Series after picking up 10 wickets in four matches.

"I think the focus of selection committee and all of us is that why can't two legspinners play in one match?"

The 28-year-old all-rounder, the T20 captain, was one of two changes to the squad whitewashed by England last month, with Test opener Kraigg Brathwaite also omitted. In Australia, Shah could take only eight wickets in three test matches and Pakistan lost the series 3-0.

"The series will be crucial and as I said it's very important that we play good cricket".

"Shadab could learn, too, by staying with Yasir, like I learnt from Qadir bhai (brother) and then Danish (Kaneria) learnt from me when I was his senior".

Davis said top cricket teams perform at a high level consistently, something the West Indies have failed to do.

Pakistan Test squad: Misbah-ul-Haq (capt), Ahmed Shehzad, Azhar Ali, Shan Masood, Babar Azam, Younis Khan, Asad Shafiq, Sarfraz Ahmed, Usman Salahuddin, Yasir Shah, Shadab Khan, Mohammad Asghar, Mohammad Amir, Wahab Riaz, Hassan Ali, Mohammad Abbas.

Khan, however, underlined that he had not spoken to Misbah about his retirement plan, but added that it was an obvious understanding that WI series was going to be the last for the captain.

The West Indies leads Pakistan 15-13 on a head-to-head at home and has a chance to move ahead of the visiting side.
