Coutinho and Firmino seal points for Liverpool at Stoke

"Attacking wise they're out of this world, they're as exciting as anyone in the Premier League".

Liverpool will now be unable to sign any player who has been at a Premier League or Football League academy in the last 18 months, but deals for foreign players will not be affected.

Jurgen Klopp's side now sit 12 points behind leaders Chelsea and Antonio Conte has one hand on the Premier League trophy, meaning that Liverpool will have to continue playing the waiting game.

The case involves forbidden inducements offered to a 12-year-old at Stoke and whom Liverpool accept they spoke to before they should have and also paid for him and some of his family to attend a game at Anfield.

An application by Liverpool in September 2016 to register him, following Liverpool and Stoke agreeing compensation, was rejected by the Premier League Board due to an offer to pay the player's private school fees.

"Liverpool have cooperated with the Premier League's inquiries in a timely and thorough manner and admitted the rule breaches asserted against them".

Liverpool was handed a two-year ban, with the second year suspended for a three-year period.

Liverpool could play an end-of-season friendly in Australia this summer.

Premier League rules ban the offer of any inducements from clubs to encourage a move.

Despite the humiliation of the ban, it does not affect first-team players - meaning the club could still sign Fulham teenager Ryan Sessegnon, who they have shown an interest in.

With players like Sheyi Ojo, Raheem Sterling, and Jordon Ibe coming to the prestigious Kirkby academy from other academies, this ban will seriously hamper Liverpool's ability to groom star players from their academy.

Liverpool's final match of the current English Premier League season will be played on May 21, meaning a match in Australia would be unlikely to be played until May 30 or 31. He can not sign for another club until Stoke receive £49,000 in compensation.
