Boy dies after getting stuck at Atlanta rotating restaurant

A spokesperson with Atlanta police says the child' body got caught between a wall and the rotating floor.

As soon as the boy got stuck, the restaurant's employees jumped into action and tried to save him. The place was reportedly shut following the incident.

Officials say a 5-year-old North Carolina boy has died after getting caught in the rotating wall of an Atlanta restaurant. The family was seated at a window table, and at some point the child wandered away from the table, police said.

It took firefighters around 30 minutes to free the boy from a 4-inch gap along the line of rotation where he was stuck, Fox 5 Atlanta reported.

The boy was transported to Grady Hospital with major head trauma and died from his injuries. However, he later succumbed to the injuries. "They immediately tried to administer first aid when they saw what was happening", Pickard said.

The family was visiting from Charlotte, NC, Brown said. "They were up enjoying one of our favorite attractions, the restaurant and just things went horribly wrong", he added.

'There was a tragic accident at the hotel involving a young boy, ' Westin Peachtree Plaza Manager George Reed said in a statement obtained by the AJC. He added that their thoughts and prayers were with the victim's family.
