NEW YORK (AP) Google Earth is getting a revival, as the 3-D mapping service reorients itself to become more of a tool for adventure and exploration. This combination of natural language search and knowledge cards may just transform Google Earth.
There's also a card for related places so users can instantly jump to a next location. Dive in to view the world at street level with integrated Street View.
The new Voyager feature allows you to go on interactive guided tours with the help of "some of the world's leading storytellers, scientists and nonprofits", Shah wrote. It's similar to what you can do via check-in platforms like Yelp and Swarm (and Facebook, even), but Timeline for Google Maps doesn't require a check-in action.
Some of the other voyages offered by Google Earth include UNESCO World Heritage Sites, The Hidden Worlds of the National Parks, and Trek: Galapagos Islands. Instead Google has curated a database of 20,000 different places around the world that are worth exploring.

Google Earth now has over 50 tours under Voyager, with more to be added on a weekly basis. It's a visual improvement that will make you want to dive back into Google Earth and spend the rest of your day discovering new places.

Last year, the Google Earth has launched a virtual reality version of the planet-visualizing application on Steam, but the app was only available for HTC Vive headsets.
