A BU Starbucks barista skipped work, blaming the "Unicorn Frappuccino"

Now, the obsession has gone even further, thanks to one hairdresser who was inspired by Starbucks' Unicorn Frappuccino.

The drink will be available through April 23.

The purple-and-pink drink is "sweet and fruity transforming to pleasantly sour", according to the Starbucks website.

The Unicorn Frappuccino is taking newsfeeds by storm, presumably because it was invented for the sheer objective of filling Instagram with cups of multi-colored froth that make Tumblr-enthusiasts squeal and cynical 20-somethings roll their eyes so far into the backs of the head, they go blind.

As the Deseret News reported, the Unicorn Frappuccino is a cream-based drink mixed with pink and blue powders that give it a mango-like and sour taste.

The drink has also caused baristas to freak out, too. For comparison, a can of Coca-Cola has 39 grams sugar and a Hershey's milk chocolate bar has 24 grams.

Comments rolled in across the internet remarking on just how bad the drink actually tastes.

Starbucks have released the Unicorn Frappuccino in the US, Canada and Mexico for just four days but there are no plans yet for the drink to see the light of day in the UK. The video has since been deleted off Twitter, but is still gaining plenty of views on YouTube. He explains that the Unicorn Frappuccino is incredibly hard and stressful to make, especially one after another.

Braden Burson: 'I have unicorn crap all in my hair and on my nose'.

Braden Burson, a barista in Colorado, went on a YouTube rant about how awful the drink is to make, according to The Washington Post.

It added that it is reaching out to Burson "to talk about his experience and how to make it better".
