Call Of Duty WWII Officially Announced By Activision

As expected, Activision has revealed the next Call of Duty, and we're going back to World War II.

The rumors are true: Call of Duty will return to its World War II roots with the next installment of this best-selling game series, called Call of Duty: WWII.

Update: Following last month's extensive leak, Activision today made Call of Duty: WWII official. That title followed Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, the game that began series' pivot towards, well, more modern warfare. The leak also teases "exciting new ways to interact and socialize with their friends and the Call of Duty community". More information about the game will be revealed during a live stream April 26 at 1 p.m. ET on the Call of Duty website. For other details we'll just have to wait until April 26!

Sledgehammer co-founder Michale Condrey also expressed his desire to include World War 2 era in the future COD games.

It has been 10 years since we last returned to the second World War and now it looks like we will be returning this fall. The news confirms a leak from a few weeks ago which show images from the game in a World War II setting. As of February 2016, over 250 million copies of Call of Duty games have been sold worldwide. The game is developed by Sledgehammer Games and will be published by Activision later this year. It's unknown if the same will apply to Call of Duty: WW2 when it releases, but gamers will undoubtedly be paying close attention to what's coming.

Acitvision has officially announced the next game in the hit Call of Duty franchise with Call of Duty: WWII!

No dates have been given for the private beta, it's unclear if it will happen earlier in the year, more towards release, or if they will conduct both open and closed betas for the game.

With November 3 falling on a Friday, the release date is plausible, especially based on previous Call of Duty games.
