2 injured in UT stabbings released from hospital

A student at the University of Texas at Austin, wielding a large Bowie-like hunting knife, is suspected of stabbing four other students on campus Monday afternoon, killing one of them, police said. He said that, like others, he had heard rumors that the attack might have had something to do with fraternity life. "In less than two minutes, we had a police officer on the scene". "We will be working specifically with AP homicide", Carter said. "This was not a person that had a vendetta against any particular group".

Austin Police Chief Brian Manley added, "There is no evidence linking this to any part of a larger plan".

The Graham Independent School District - northwest of Fort Worth - identified the student killed as Harrison Brown, who they say graduated from Graham High School previous year. They say they will do all they can to make everyone feel safe. The president met with Brown's family Tuesday morning.

"It is an incredibly hard time for them - unimaginable", he said.

"We are in mourning", he said.

The first person attacked was one of several students gathered around a popular Austin food truck around 2 p.m.at the plaza outside Gregory Gym, one of the busiest areas on the 431-acre campus.

Bonilla, a former intern for the Killeen Daily Herald, said the incident took place near Jester dormitory and McComb Business School close to the intersection of 21st Street and Speedway. I thought it was just some theatrical stunt or something.

"It is pretty terrifying", Prichett said.

Students also tweeted about an incident across campus from the crime scene where a banner was reportedly dropped from a walkway that reads "Tuition pays for bombs".

"Police were resuscitating a victim".

White was an active member of the Black Health Professionals Organization student organization on campus.

Gov. Greg Abbott said in a statement that prayers go out to all those affected by Monday's tragic events in Texas, including the UT stabbings and the shooting of a paramedic in Dallas.

He then looked at everyone in what appeared to be a "theatrical stunt" before turning to slash a man in the neck, the witness said.

Authorities cordoned off the scene as a large contingent of state and local police, including officers in helicopters, swarmed the area.

Four men, all believed to be students, were injured.

"There are no words to describe my sense of loss".

"I am too scared to leave my apartment", communications senior Erin Gust said in an open letter to Fenves. His possible motive is under investigation. UT President Greg Fenves sent a message to the campus community asking for everyone to be "there for one another".

Fenves added that there is justified fear on campus and noted that the attack came one year after another student's murder.
