'Arrested Development' Season 5: Jason Bateman Signs On

'Arrested Development' Season 5: Jason Bateman Signs On

An Emmy victor for best comedy series in 2004, Arrested Development originally ran on Fox from 2003-2006. Supposedly that will make it easier for the core cast to get together more often this season, which is good news for anyone who were unimpressed by the show's fourth season.

Bateman tweeted on Friday: "Look very probable I'm going to put some miles on the Stair Car this summer". There is no timeline provided as to when Season 5 will be released either.

Despite the unevenness of the series' Netflix revival, fans have been practically blue-ing themselves to get more Arrested Development in their lives. Ted Sarandos, Chief Content Officer for Netflix, also promised a fifth season, depending on actor availability.

He stated that they are very close, but he is still very hesitant because it is something that he is very desperate to do.

Twentieth Century Fox Television and Netflix have yet to comment on the new season, so we'll have to see if we're actually getting those 17 episodes. The hope, as Bateman indicated, is to start shooting new episodes as early as this summer. To now go ahead and produce a new season where a significant chunk of screen time is dedicated to flashbacks with entirely new talent could backfire horribly.

Be ready for more "Arrested Development".

Are you excited that Jason Bateman has now officially joined the cast for Season 5 of Arrested Development?

Four years after Arrested Development was revived by Netflix, season five is still on track.

It's unclear whether any of the show's other original stars - Will Arnett, Portia de Rossi, Michael Cera, David Cross, Alia Shawkat, Tony Hale, Jeffrey Tambor and Jessica Walter - will be back.
