Google Assistant could launch on the iPhone tomorrow

The Android system, says Volvo, provides the best platform to fast-track improvements in the connected vehicle experience. But by bringing Google Assistant to iOS, Google could potentially expand its reach into the huge base of iPhone users and expose them to the Google ecosystem. Apple's iOS is the second-largest mobile operating system worldwide, and it makes sense for Google to expand its efforts towards its competitors.

Although announcements are mainly consumer-focused, there is also a lot of interest for developers and tech staff. Techworld will bring you all the biggest announcements at they happen.

The German brand has not chose to show off new cars in front of potentially wealthy developers who use Google's products, but to present its latest multimedia technology. All these services will also be displayed on the Audi virtual cockpit, directly in the driver's field of view.

Volvo has agreed a deal with Google to develop the next generation of its infotainment and connectivity system. Google has been trying to expand out the brand for a while now, including just recently making the SDK for Assistant available to the developers. The company has signed a deal with Audi and Volvo to bring a car-focused version of Android to market, with Google building and licensing the OS for vehicle makers just as it does for phone OEMs. The next generation of Volvo's premium SUVs and sedans are going to come with what is essentially an Android operating system taking care of everything from infotainment to concierge services.

The app will not be built in the iPhone like Apple's own Siri assistant, but it will work closely with other Google services, so for instance, when you search for videos you will get clips playing directly from YouTube.

As is written on Engadget, ever since the days of Nougat, Google has been floating Android as a viable software alternative. Are the Android Automotive apps different from Android Auto? These three are able to integrate more deeply into their respective platforms, at least more than third-party apps. In fact, the company is already working to integrated the Google Assistant into Android Auto.
