Russian Federation added to list of countries where Android Pay is available

There, you would see an Android Pay settings option. 15 banks and thousands of organizations are supported at launch, and more will obviously be added as time goes on. Currently, it is available only to few users.

There has been no comment on this matter from Google or Stripe.

Retailers listed as supporting Android Pay for in-store payments include Magnit, Perekrestok, Starbucks, KFC, Rosneft and more, with in-app supporting retailers including Lamoda, OneTwoTrip and Rambler-Kassa with "more coming soon".

After PayPal and Google announced last month that they will be offering USA customers the chance to use their PayPal credentials in Android Pay, it looks as though the integration is going live.

Google launched Android Pay in the USA in 2015 and has since introduced the service in several countries, including the UK, Russia, Australia, Singapore and Japan. It's unclear how widespread bank support will be for Android Pay when it launches.

According to a third source, Stripe was in advanced negotiations to enter India through a partnership with UPI.

UPI, which is backed by the Indian government uses bank accounts to enable feast and easy transactions. A new report claims that Google's payment service will finally make its debut in Canada starting on Wednesday, May 31. "As they do not directly have a large consumer base, their motivations are more to enable UPI for their overseas clients targeting Indian consumers and for Indian companies as a part of a broader payments acceptance offering".
