Attorney General Sessions' Testimony To Senate Panel Will Be Public

Trump raised the possibility of tapes last month after firing Comey. "I'll tell you something about that maybe sometime in the very near future".

"In response to your request, the Secret Service has conducted a reasonable search for responsive records", the Secret Service wrote in response to The Journal's FOIA request in May.

Yet others interviewed by CNN took it as the latest indication Trump is out of his depth in Washington. Warren said she is looking forward to finding out more about Sessions' role in Comey's firing, although the White House suggested Sessions could invoke executive privilege during his testimony depending on "the scope of the questions".

Mr Trump tweeted on Sunday: "I believe the James Comey leaks will be far more prevalent than anyone ever thought possible".

But he says the president "believes that the sooner we can get this addressed and dealt with" the better.

Comey testified last week before the same panel answering questions about Russia's involvement in the presidential election and his relationship with President Donald Trump. "What exactly does he know about the discussion between Comey and President Trump?"

Attorney General Jeff Sessions, whose contacts with Russia's ambassador to the USA during the presidential campaign have sparked questions, has agreed to appear before the Senate intelligence committee.

Justice Department spokeswoman Sarah Isgur Flores said Sessions requested that the committee hearing be public.

Almost a month after firing off a suggestion on Twitter that such tapes may exist, Trump still refused to answer the question directly. He later said that he did meet with the Russian ambassador in 2016, but in his role as a U.S. Senator, not as a surrogate for the Trump campaign.

But there are also questions about meetings that Sessions had with Russia's ambassador to the U.S., Sergey Kislyak, who has emerged as a key figure in the question of whether any Trump associates had ties to Russian officials.

Several Republican politicians also criticised Comey for disclosing memos he had written in the aftermath of his private conversations with Trump, calling that action "inappropriate".

Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein of California, a member of the Intelligence committee, sent a letter to Sen.

"It is really unclear what he is going to say, and I am a little bit surprised because in the past, he has gotten into trouble when he said things and they turned out not to be entirely true", said Jens Ohlin, a professor of law at Cornell University.

Sessions recused himself from the Russian Federation probe the next day. That investigation continues, as do congressional inquiries.

FELLOW Republicans are pressing President Donald Trump to come clean about whether he has tapes of private conversations with former Federal Bureau of Investigation director James Comey.

In an interview Monday on Fox News' "Fox & Friends", Ivanka Trump says political life still surprises her and that "there is a level of viciousness I was not expecting".

Mr Trump had himself attributed his dismissal of Mr Comey to the Russian Federation investigation.

Shortly after the meeting, Comey said he confronted Sessions, saying that had become increasingly uneasy about being left alone with Trump.

Russian Federation has denied interfering in the USA election.

Sessions' testimony is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. Mark R. Warner (D-Va.) announced that the hearing would be public.
