Obamacare repeal imminent in Congress: Pence

"Somebody's got to write a bill", Sen. Chris Coons, D-Del., Sen. Brian Schatz, D-Hawaii, and Sen.

McConnell announced a discussion draft would be laid out on Thursday.

Senate Republicans have been working behind closed doors for weeks on legislation aimed at repealing and replacing major portions of the Affordable Care Act, former Democratic President Barack Obama's signature healthcare law, popularly known as Obamacare.

The legislation imposing sanctions on Russian Federation that was unanimously passed by the U.S. Senate last week hit a roadblock in the House on Tuesday.

Democrats have also lambasted McConnell for writing the sweeping legislation in closed-door meetings.

Unlike the House plan that passed before lawmakers got an updated cost, the Senate has to get those numbers from the Congressional Budget Office before they vote.

This kind of throw-it-up-against-the-wall legislating is what we normally would expect of the House (although this Congress is worse than most). Some of its provisions were described by people on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss them publicly.

WASHINGTON, June 21 US senators expressed concern on Wednesday about a plan to overhaul the USA healthcare system, fearing a rush to consider the major legislation as Republican leaders prepare to unveil it.

Though McConnell did not schedule the vote for next week, some Republicans said they believed he would hold it either way.

He is one of 13 Republican senators in the working group to draft the Senate's version of the Obamacare repeal effort that the Republican-led House passed last month.

"I strongly support sanctions against Iran and Russian Federation to hold them accountable", Brady told reporters. John Thune, R-South Dakota, told reporters that the Senate effort would likely postpone until 2023 its phase-out of Obamacare's Medicaid expansion, which gave health coverage to 15 million more Americans. But after blasting a House version of the bill Donald Trump recently called "mean", what's next for the minority party? But Republicans from states that expanded Medicaid, like Ohio's Rob Portman, want to extend that to seven years.

Aides and lobbyists said the bill would impose spending limits on the growth of the federal-state Medicaid program for the poor that would tighten further by the mid-2020s. The measure would eliminate much of Obama's 2010 law and leave government with a diminished role in providing coverage and helping people afford it. Like the House bill, the Senate plan would repeal or delay many of those tax boosts. And conservatives both on and off the Hill warn that they won't support any bill that doesn't lower premiums.

Besides Lee, two other conservatives were also complaining.
