Horn stuns Pacquiao in bloody battle

Pacquiao lost his WBO welterweight world title to Horn in a stunning, unanimous points decision in the Sunday afternoon bout billed as the Battle of Brisbane in front of more than 50,000 people.

"Even on TV, I can remember watching programs saying the Manny Pacquiao fight in Brisbane".

"I'm so happy, I can't explain my feelings", Horn said at ringside, before welcoming the prospect of a rematch.

Pacquiao was far from his best in the "Battle of Brisbane" but - according to CompuBox statistics - landed almost double the number of punches as Horn, who was left with a shut right eye after the fight.

The other two judges scored the fight 115-113 in Horn's favour and the Australian has dismissed suggestions he didn't deserve the victory.

Pacquiao's supporters will howl that the judging was horrendous, and on at least one card (117-111, Horn) it was.

"It was hard, hard getting through that round, hard getting hit, getting caught with a shot and then continue on", Horn said.

Ask any number of people at Suncorp Stadium, in Las Vegas or anywhere else in the world and it's pretty clear Manny Pacquiao was robbed of his welterweight title on Sunday.

Bringing top boxing matches back to cable and network television has been en vogue in recent years with Premier Boxing Champions seemingly having fights on every American television network that airs sports. With Horn charging forward all day, he ducked down and it was nearly inevitable one of them would be opened.

The battered and bruised Horn is excited by the prospect of a rematch with Pacquiao. "I'm going to talk to Manny about maybe calling it a day, maybe this is it", Roach said. "But I thought they were very disrespectful when people were saying things [before the fight]".

Horn's trainer, Glenn Rushton, said that numerous comments made in the lead up to the fight were utterly disrespectful and Horn had proved he was fully capable of fighting against the world's best.

Horn, a former high school substitute teacher, was not overawed by the occasion at all. "Hopefully he comes back in the rematch and beats Horn just like he did to Tim Bradley after losing that first fight, which was also a bulls-- decision". You could sense that he was willing to do whatever it took to get the victory.

Trainer Glenn Rushton says Pacquiao was tiring towards the end of the fight, and a rematch would produce the same victor.

"I didn't see a lot there".
