Wayne Rooney Set To Make Move Back To Everton

Manchester United star Wayne Rooney is close to make return to his former club Everton, according to The Sun. Please drop your comment!

Wayne Rooney was back in Liverpool this afternoon.

The deal for Rooney to return to his boyhood club hinges on Everton putting together a wage packet close to the £250,000 a week he now earns, though they are unable to match the full amount.

Manchester United are ready to hijack Romelu Lukaku's £100million move to Chelsea.

The Red Devils' 253-goal all-time leading scorer will go back to Goodison 13 years after he quit for Old Trafford in a £26.5 million move.

It is widely expected that he will move on this summer, with boyhood side Everton a possible destination.

The 31-year-old is now set to call time on his illustrious United career.

Reports indicate that the England Captain was left out of the club's pre-season tour, after being told by manager Jose Mourinho that he was free to leave the club.

According to The Sun, Everton are set to land Rooney in the near future - with Ronald Koeman keen to link up with the England global.

Yesterday, Arsenal announced the signing of Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon for an undisclosed fee with British media reports putting the deal at £44m - eclipsing Mesut Ozil as Arsenal's most expensive signing.

Rooney will join Michael Keane, Jordan Pickford, Davy Klaassen, Sandro Ramirez and Henry Onyekuru as part of an extensive summer recruitment drive on the blue half of Merseyside.

As a result, the Everton option is on the table for Rooney, who made his Premier League debut with the club as a 16-year old in 2002.
