Why? Kenneth Dion Lever Gardendale shooting: 3 dead, on the run

A man wanted for a shooting that left three people dead in Alabama was awaiting trial on child sexual abuse charges in Pennsylvania, authorities said.

Gardendale police released a photo of a potential suspect in a Facebook post and told residents to stay inside while they looked for a man described as an active shooter.

Police in Gardendale are searching for a 51-year-old man following the incident in Willow Bend Drive at the Peachtree Crossings on Wednesday morning.

Police said Lever is "armed and dangerous", and asked anyone who sees him not to approach and inform the police. A perimeter was set up mid-morning Wednesday up by multiple police agencies that have responded to the shootings.

The AP story also notes Lever was facing charges of sexual abuse of a minor in York County, Pennsylvania.

According to a report, the shooter identified as Kenneth Dion Lever killed three people.

The protection order was issued in Jefferson County, Alabama, the same county as the triple homicide on Wednesday. "He is considered armed and risky", Gardendale Police said.

The search was focused in woods near the Peachtree Crossings mobile home community, but police said Lever is now believed to have fled the area in a 2007 black Lincoln Navigator with Florida tags 689NFN. She claimed that he was stalking and harassing her and her 11-year-old daughter. The girl, according to public records, had been seeing a therapist and the therapist called the mother with concerns.

'My daughter has a different disposition when she returns home, ' the woman wrote in the complaint.

Lever was placed in York County Prison on October 12, 2015, on the first case on $100,000 and was bailed out the next day. They say he could be headed to the Florida Panhandle.

The cases are scheduled for trial in York County Court of Common Pleas on September 11. "She is very clingy to me and will not let me leave her".
