Trump Jr. asked to testify before Senate Judiciary Committee

Willfully failing to report under the Foreign Agent Registration Act is a felony, but the Justice Department rarely prosecutes violations.

The Senate Intelligence Committee has begun interviewing White House and Trump campaign staffers for its Russia investigation but it is already expanding its roster of interviewees amid revelations that Donald Trump Jr. met during the campaign with a Russian lawyer purporting to have damaging information about Hillary Clinton.

Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) has sent a letter to President Donald Trump's eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., to testify publicly before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

"We're working very closely on this and we've already agreed that we're going to bring Manafort before our committee", Grassley said as quoted by the Des Moines Register. "[Dianne] Feinstein and I have the power to issue a subpoena", Grassley said.

Manafort resigned from Trump's campaign on August 19, just 3 months after becoming chairman, after NYT broke news of his firm's work with Ukrainian oligarchs.

Trump Jr. told Fox News' Sean Hannity Tuesday night that he would be willing to testify under oath about the meeting, which he said yielded no useful information and instead focused on adoptions.

According to the Former Russian prosecutor, Natalie Veselnitskaya, she was initially denied a U.S. Visa to enter the county but was later given immigration parole.

"It is unclear how she was still in the country for that meeting, despite being denied a visa beforehand and her parole purportedly expiring on January 7, 2016", Grassley wrote, according to a statement and copy of the letter released Wednesday.

He tweeted on July 10, "Obviously I'm the first person on a campaign to ever take a meeting to hear info about an opponent... went nowhere but had to listen". The real estate executive, who is President Trump's oldest son, said earlier this week that he is willing to testify under oath about his meeting with the lawyer, Natalia Veselnitskaya.

President Donald Trump announced his nominee for Federal Bureau of Investigation director in a post on Twitter June 7.

The legislators spoke the next day after Trump Jr. released some emails that showed his willingness to listen to the damaging materials about Clinton y the Russian lawyer.
