The operation has now been declared closed with the forces recovering three AK, one UBGL, 18 AK Magazines etc. However, he hinted that the militants might be from Jaish-e-Mohammed.

Jaish-e-Mohammed Saturday said three militants killed by forces in Tral belonged to its outfit and claimed their "mission" would be taken to the logical end.

Tral is the hometown of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani, who was killed by security forces on July 8 last year, triggering a wave of unrest in the Valley for almost a year. According to a senior police official, Security forces launched a search operation in the Satoora area of Tral after receiving intelligence inputs about the presence of some terrorists in the area. The encounter broke at around 8:15 AM on Saturday.

Sources said that Touseef has worked with the Special Operations Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police in the past and is accused of supplying ammunition and facilitating terrorist movement.
