Ray Lewis to Colin Kaepernick: Don't advertise social activism

Colin Kaepernick's career could be reaching its conclusion, with Baltimore Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti's resistance being interpreted as a sign that the former Super Bowl starter no longer has a place in the NFL.

On July 26, it was reported that Ravens starting quarterback Joe Flacco could be out for a couple of preseason games due to a back injury.

Sports fans have been buzzing about a leak that claimed The Ravens want to sign Colin Kaepernick.

"We're very sensitive to [the situation], and we're monitoring it and we're still, as [Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome] says, we're scrimmaging it".

"Non-violent protesting is something that we've all embraced", Bisciotti told the Associated Press earlier this week.

Bisciotti recently asked fans to "pray for us" in regards to the team's deliberations over signing Kaepernick.

Kaepernick, 29, chose to protest the National Anthem by taking a knee in 2016 in an effort to raise awareness around social inequality. Those moves were not expected to preclude the Ravens from adding Kaepernick.

Sherman told Bell the only way Kaepernick will get a job somewhere is if other players speak up for him.

Whether Kaepernick is bad for business is also debatable: his shirt was one of the best-selling jerseys last season. Last season, Flacco threw for 20 touchdowns, 15 interceptions with a 58.4 quarterback rating in 16 starts. He may have had the best of intentions, but Lewis ended up more or less rambling about the topic for two-plus minutes before encouraging Kaepernick to keep his activism to himself and concentrate on football. "When football's a safe game, you don't have to say, 'Football's a safe game.' It seems like (Roger Goodell) always has to say things to justify something". I think it's safe to throw out that talent argument, and basically focus on the fact that he doesn't have a job exclusively because he didn't stand for the anthem last year, even though he already expressed that he planned on standing this year.
