Who Will Be Manchester United's Fourth Summer Signing?

The Wales global has been linked with a potential switch to Old Trafford from the Champions League holders in the current transfer window.

Romelu Lukaku, Victor Lindelof and Nemanja Matic have come in as big-money arrivals to bolster the Red Devils' challenge this time around and Stam - a pillar of defensive strength for Alex Ferguson's all-conquering side between 1998 and 2001 - has been impressed by the recruitment drive. A winger is the Portuguese coach's top priority but little progress has been made in recent weeks amid an inflated transfer market which has seen Neymar join PSG for €222m [£198m].

Inter winger Ivan Perisic has always been linked with a move to Old Trafford, while Paris Saint-Germain full-back Serge Aurier is also a reported target, and Mourinho admits that he hopes to welcome one more new face to the club before August 31.

"Perisic is a very important player for us".

That hasn't happened and the Daily Express says sources at United have revealed that Mourinho is frustrated at the lack of urgency that he believes has cost them a deal for Perisic.

"First of all, it is not true, talking about Antonio, that he has been questioned: never put on the market, together with him we are trying to build a great Inter", he told Premium Sport.

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is still hoping to secure a fourth signing before the transfer window shuts on August 31.

A deal was close to being agreed between United and Inter for a player who fits the classical Mourinho style.

"We've been buying players since 2013 and now we only need to touch up the current squad if we want to get back into the Champions League".
