Amber Alert issued for 9-year-old boy from Santa Maria

A statewide Amber Alert was issued Tuesday morning for a 9-year-old boy who was abducted after a fatal shooting in Santa Maria, authorities said.

Malkmus says Konstantin and Natalia were married and recently divorced.

The Santa Maria Police Department said they believe they boy's father, Konstantin Morozov, 48, (pictured right) took the child. He stands 6 feet tall and weighs approximately 180 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes, according to the Amber Alert.

Santa Maria police responded to a report of a deadly shooting on the 200 block of North College Drive at around 9 p.m. Monday. According to ABC7 Eyewitness News, the boy identified as Daniel Morozov was reportedly abducted by his father. He has brown hair and brown eyes.

Witnesses said they saw the elder Morozov fleeing the scene on foot after hearing gunshots and a woman screaming for help, according to emergency radio traffic.

The Morozovs' last known vehicle was a 2015 blue Volkswagen Golf hatchback with a license plate of 7JGG242. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and is believed to be in the company of Konstantin Morozov.

The police ask people to pay special attention to border crossings and worldwide airports.

Anyone who has seen Daniel or Konstantin Morozov is urged to call 911.

Meanwhile, the shooting that happened on Monday is the first case of homicide for Santa Maria in 2017.
