Barcelona take legal action against Neymar for alleged breach of contract

The club went on to say that if Neymar is unable to pay, PSG will be expected to cover the costs.

The Camp Nou club are claiming that they are owed €8.5 million from last year's first loyalty bonus following his contract renewal that was set to run until 2021.

Barcelona continue to express their public disagreement after the player paid the buy-out clause to end the contract unilaterally.

The Brazil worldwide made the move to the French club after they met his buyout clause earlier this month.

Neymar has revealed his disappointment towards Barcelona's board during his time with the club following PSG's 6-2 win over Toulouse.

The 25-year-old completed an acrimonious move from Barca to Paris Saint-Germain earlier in the month for a world record £200m, with the Spanish club publicly voicing their unhappiness over the way Neymar handled his departure having signed a long-term contract just last summer.

"Paris Saint-Germain reiterates that, like Neymar Jr, it has always respected all applicable laws and rules in its dealings and, once again, regrets the attitude of FC Barcelona".

As well as the 8.5m euro bonus, the club wants "an additional 10% because of delayed payment".

Neymar's had an immediate impact with his new club, accounting for three goals and three assists in two Ligue 1 appearances for PSG.

"The club also requests Paris Saint-Germain take on responsibility for the payment of these fees if the player can not do so himself", it said.

The Catalans are also asking for an additional 10 per cent payment due to a delay in their demands being met, which they presented to the forward on 11 August. "But with [the board], no".

"I spent four years there and I was very happy", Neymar said, per L'Equipe.

"I do have something to say, that I am disappointed with them [Barcelona directors]. Barca deserve much better, and everyone knows this".
