Taylor Swift announces new album 'Reputation'

And now, finally, FINALLY, we have confirmation that yes, Taylor Swift is about to drop a new album later this fall, and the first single will be released tomorrow night.

The "Shake It Off" singer announced the news Wednesday when she revealed the album's stark black-and-white cover on social media.

Throughout the week, Swift teased fans with an announcement by erasing all of her social media accounts and then returning with a cryptic image of a slithering snake.

Every Taylor Swift album comes with a new era, a new ~lewk~ if you will. Speak Now brings to mind Princess gowns, Red conjures up Swift in Americana stripes, while1989 reminds us of Swift and 15 friends parading down the catwalk of her stage. The album received three Grammy Awards, and Swift became the first woman and fifth act overall to win Album of the Year twice. Perry is scheduled to perform "Swish Swish", her own diss track from earlier this year about Swift. Swift, you better be ready.

This is an edgier, more high-fashion version of Swift. Thus, with all of the controversy lately, critics have been quick to call her reputation into question.

The graphomaniacal cover art, revealed today, reads as a not-so-subtle allusion to the controversies and mini-backlashes Swift has had since the release of 1989.

For reference, Siobhan also provided the emojis used in the days before her "1989" release, which are heart-eyes, hands up, and the music emoji.

After all, even Beyoncé had to perform a medley when she played Lemonade at the VMAs.
