Taylor Swift's 'Look What You Made Me Do' Just Made YouTube History

Taylor dropped her single Look What You Made Me Do on Friday afternoon, along with an Alfred Hitchcock-style animated lyric video, which was viewed more than 19 million times on its first day. The video premiered at the 2017 MTV VMAs and has since smashed records for streaming music via Spotify and YouTube.

Taylor Swift unveiled her darker side in her revenge-seeking new music video, laced with fun jibes at both herself and her contemporaries.

"Look What You Made Me Do" director Joseph Kahn shared a status update thanking fans for supporting the video and announced the final number for video views. Adele was the former champion with 27.7 million views in 24-hours for her song "Hello". "I heard her new song, and I did not like it - did not like it at all". "Look What You Made Me Do" averaged 30,000 views every minute in its first 24 hours, exceeding more than 3 million views each hour, according to YouTube.

When asked who Swift is referring to, Antonoff told The Associated Press: "That's for her to tell you".

For instance, some believe the snake imagery in the video is a nod to Swift's longtime feud with Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, as well as Katy Perry.

"You learn a lot from the people you work with", he said.

"Look What You Made Me Do" quickly set three records.

The pop star released her first new song in nearly three years, dropping the highly anticipated single Look What You Made Me Do and reigniting feuds in the process.

Swift's first track from her upcoming sixth studio album, Reputation, notched up a milestone 8 million same-day streams following its debut on Thursday night (24Aug17), more than any other track in Spotify's history.

On Saturday, the song was downloaded about 200,000 times - it took Ed Sheeran's Shape of You an entire week to get that many downloaded.

Swift, for her part, has also kept digital marketing for the new album to a minimum, scraping her social media channels of posts and promoting her new single through a small series of cryptic videos.
