Liverpool officials jet off to Monaco to complete huge deal

Monaco winger, Thomas Lemar, has left the door open for a future move to the Premier League, after failed efforts from Liverpool and Arsenal on deadline day.

Reports in Italy have claimed that the Gunners have identified the youngster as the one to take over from Alexis Sanchez.

Lemar has been identified as the prime option to bolster the wide positions, but his involvement in the crunch World Cup qualifier against the Netherlands has seemingly ended the club's interest.

But Arsenal could not get the transfer over the line and Wenger has now revealed that it was Lemar's decision to remain in the principality. Will there be more twists?

Wenger added the club are prepared to make a "financial sacrifice" as they face losing Sanchez and midfielder Mesut Ozil for free next summer when their contracts expire.

It's been a insane day for Arsenal, Liverpool and Monaco, with Thomas Lemar in the middle of it.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is a big fan of Lemar, who helped guide Monaco to the French Ligue 1 title as well as the semi-finals of the Champions League last season.

Punters think the Gunners will move again for the Monaco winger if they sell their wantaway star player to Man City.

"You do not want to talk too much about. you have to respect what happens on the negotiation side".

"I am a player of Monaco, I am very happy there", Lemar told Canal + after the 4-0 victory over Holland.

Speaking after his starring role for France in Paris, 21-year-old Lemar affirmed his delight at staying with the club he originally joined in 2015.
