As part of his nationwide tour, Amit Shah arrives in Odisha

This comes after the BJP on Wednesday alleged that a West Bengal government-owned indoor stadium, the venue of the Sammelan (gathering), had cancelled the booking for the event.

Shah has reportedly made it clear to the party leaders in the northeast, including the chief ministers of the five states which are either ruled by BJP or its allies, that the three remaining states - Tripura, Meghalaya and Mizoram - have to be won over "at any cost".

"Please tell me who will be Congress president after Sonia Gandhi?".

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah will inaugurate the second meeting of the party-led North-East Democratic Alliance or NEDA in New Delhi on Tuesday. "Is there any dearth of talent or merit in Congress and BJD?"

Accusing the Naveen Patnaik of inefficiency, corruption and worse, the BJP National President listed the failures of the Odisha government like Kalahandi' Dana Majhi, Nagada malnutrition deaths, chit fund scams and drought.

Addressing a press conference in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, Shah said progressive steps like the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Bill have strengthened the country's foundations.

Odisha BJP in-charge Arun Singh claimed the party will win 120 of the 147 seats in Odisha while the BJD, Congress and others will share the remaining seats among themselves.

He said the people associated closely with the government were involved in multi-crore chit fund and mining scams. "The leaders are chosen on the basis of merit and not their family", Shah said, adding the BJP was the only party which had its ideologies and policies rooted in the cultural heritage of India.

The BJP Starwalt also hit out at chief minister Naveen Patnaik for celebrating an award given by a news magazine to him. The irony is the chief minister has failed to learn Odia in such a long period, he said.
