Clarence woman competes in, but loses Miss America competition

Upon answering the Q&A part about her number 1 wish on her bucket list, she simply said that it would be incredible is she won the pageant for the first time in history.

23-year-old Cara Mund making history as the only one from North Dakota ever to win as seen on ABC, courtesy the Miss America Organization.

Cara Mund has received a $50.000 scholarship and will also have a six-figure salary over the time she is the reigning Miss America.

On Sunday, Mund participated in five competitions which consisted of swimwear, evening gowns, a talent show, and two question and answer sessions. Miss Mund said it was bad because she thinks climate change exists and the US needs to be at the negotiating table.

"195 countries signed the Paris agreement, in which each country sets non-bidding goals to reduce man-made climate change", Menounos explained.

She says there's "evidence that climate change is existing".

Miss Missouri was the first person announced and Jordin Sparks was the judge who asked her a question.

Shields tweeted out her support and excitement for the new Miss America minutes after passing along the crown.

But her seemingly diplomatic response appears to have not gone down well with many Miss America fans.

In the past, the initial cruise-through of all 51 contestants has featured such pun-tastic introductions as "Representing the Dairy State, come smell our dairy-air - I'm Miss Wisconsin". And that's something we really need to keep in mind.

"It's important to have a woman's perspective", she said, stressing the importance of women in important government jobs.

Cara Mund bagged the crown after competing against 50 beauties from different states.

After the Q-&-A portion, she was crowned the victor, beating the runner-up, Miss Missouri, Jennifer Davis; Second runner-up, Miss New Jersey, Kaitlyn Schoeffel; third runner-up, Miss D.C., Briana Kinsey; and fourth runner-up, Miss Texas, Margana Wood.

During the competition, she revealed her mother as her greatest role model.

It turns out, Mund used Wentz as inspiration during her run to the title.

Earlier she was the Outstanding Teen of Miss North Dakota pageant, Miss Pre-Teen, Little Miss, and Miss Junior Teen.

Miss Texas, Margana Wood, was asked by Jess Cagle about the Charlottesville protest with the KKK, white supremacists, and Antifa.
