Pressure on CBSE to act against Ryan International

Parents whose children are studying in the Vasant Kunj branch of Ryan International School filed a first information report in the Vasant Kunj Police station in this regard.

The apex court's decision comes in the wake of the mysterious murder of Pradyuman Thakur, a class 2 student at Gurgaon's Ryan International School, who was found dead - with his throat slit - in the washroom of the school on September 8.

In one such incident, parents of Ryan International School, Faridabad, gathered for a surprise inspection at the school premises on Monday morning.

The officials who were arrested on Sunday night were identified as Francis Thomas, regional head of the group, and HR head (Bhondsi branch) Jeyus Thomas.

The principal of the school is next in line to be arrested due to her sheer negligence.

The Pintos's counsel, Niteen Pradhan, had said in court on Monday that their son Ryan, the group's CEO, had also filed an anticipatory bail plea. Investigation suggests that the time between the child entering the bathroom and being discovered was about five minutes, leaving little time for Kumar to commit the murder, clean the weapon, rush out of the bathroom without being noticed, and return when the body was discovered.

"All these red flags beg the question whether the trustees, management & Principal of this school should be trusted with the running of a school at all!"
They fear that there might have been some loopholes in the school's security system.

The police claimed that evidence from the scene of the crime had been tampered with and said they would bring the guilty to book.

Their counsel Niteen Pradhan mentioned the applications before Justice Ajey Gadkari, who posted them for hearing on Tuesday.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted to look into the murder case of a seven-year-old Gurugram student pointed out serious security lapses in the school.

As per the report highlighted by the investigative team, it highlighted that the CCTV cameras of the school were not working properly and were not installed everywhere.

This incident has raised enough agitation among parents and public alike where they are questioning the safety measures undertaken by the schools and demanding a thorough background check of all the staff employed by the authority. The Pintos have, meanwhile, said, "The death has caused deep pain and grief not only to the parents and family of the child but also to the trustees, management, staff and students of the school".

Former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda told PTI, "People's anger in this case is a natural reaction".
