Ty Montgomery May Play Week 5 Despite Rib Injury

He saw significant action after starting running back Ty Montgomery left the game with an apparent chest injury. He had ice packs on his knee and ankle after the game. That left only fifth-round draft pick Aaron Jones, who hadn't played a snap from scrimmage, as the last remaining running back. While Montgomery is a converted wide receiver, he tallied 457 rushing yards and three touchdowns on the ground past year and helped bolster what was otherwise an uninspiring ground game after Eddie Lacy's injury.

Montgomery, who carried the ball five times in a six-play span in the Thursday night win over the Chicago Bears, reportedly suffered the injury on his first run of the night.

The Packers running back left the game during the second quarter.

Fantasy Impact Despite what the stat line would indicate, Jones figures to receive more work in passing downs while Montgomery is sidelined, with Jamaal Williams seeing most of the early-down work assuming he can play.

Since Montgomery and Williams are believed to be dealing with short-term injuries, Green Bay will not bring in outside running back help, Schefter reports.

The Packers are set to take on the Cowboys on Sunday, October 8th.

Randall Cobb received four throws for 44 yards and a touchdown while Davante Adams caught one touchdown pass before he was injured by Danny Trevathan's hit in the third period. Both rookies carry some risk until we see how their usage is split up. "Could miss next game, not more".
