Google's Clips camera is "designed to be conspicuous"

Google's Clips camera is

At its October 4 event, Google surprised us by debuting a body camera of its own called Google Clips.

The firm has built machine learning capabilities directly into Clips so when you turn it on, the camera looks for good moments to capture. The more you're with a specific person, the more the device will learn that you might want to capture those moments.

What's notable this time is that Google is positioning Now Playing and the Clips camera as examples of "on-device machine learning". You can preview the shots later on your phone and even fabricate a short movie out of them. The Clips camera has a 12MP sensor with a 130 degree field of vision, with the ability to export stills, animations or video.

Google saved a surprise for the finale of its Pixel event: Google Clips, a small AI-infused camera that "thoughtfully" captures images of what's happening in its view. Apart from the flagship smartphone duo, the company also unveiled its smart Home products and the new PixelBook. It connects to your phone, where you can share your "clips"-or curated moments-via an app".

Like an increasing number of other Google products, the $249 camera relies on artificial intelligence. The best aspect about the camera is that it does all of this itself and the technology behind it is housed in a tiny body. You can clip it to an object or set it down while you do something and it fires away. While the camera itself doesn't have a display, it is created to pair with a smartphone running the Google Clips app.

These clips sync wirelessly to the Google Clips app for Android and iOS, and Google Photos users can back up unlimited photos for free.
