Meanwhile, as per the direction of Sonowal, a team comprising state sports minister Naba Kumar Doley, chief secretary Pipersenia and the police chief met the Australian team to show the government's support and brief them about the security arrangements that have been made after the incident.

The incident happened as Australia travelled back to their hotel following day one of the second Test in Chittagong.

To control the situation, Indian authorities had not only increased security but also summoned military officers for the protection of Aussie players. The DGP said everything would become clear after the investigation is over.

Talking about the incident, Australian leg spinner Adam Zampa told media, "I had my headphones on quite loud but (suddenly) just heard this loud bang".

"It was a devious act to tarnish Guwahati's reputation as an emerging sports hub. Our deep apology. People of assam never endorse such behaviour. we will punish the guilty", Assam chief minister Sarbanada Sonowal tweeted. We strongly condemn it.

Referring to the security arrangements put in place for the worldwide sports events in the state, the Assam CM also cited an appreciation letter from Roma Khanna, Head of Venue Operation, FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017.

This statement of Raj came after a rock was allegedly thrown at the Australian team bus as they were on their way back to the team hotel from the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, following their eight-wicket win in the second T20I of the three-match series in Guwahati.
