Austin authorities say 3 shot by gunman dressed as Santa

Police in Austin, Texas say a man dressed as Santa Claus shot four people at a Halloween party Sunday morning.

Police arrived at the scene, in a central Austin neighborhood not known for violent crime, shortly after 6 a.m.

The suspect was described to police as a white male dressed in a Santa Claus outfit.

"While en route to the call, officers received a information on a secondary location that's just down the block", he said.

As indicated by Austin-Travis County EMS, three individuals were taken to Dell Seton Medical Center with discharge wounds, KXAN reports. Three were seriously wounded, but the injuries aren't believed to be life-threatening. Police said a fourth victim refused medical treatment at the scene.

"This was not a random act of violence", he said. Knouse said specifics regarding charges against the suspect couldn't be discussed at this time.

The victims and the suspect were all attending the same Halloween party.
