I MARRIED MY MOM: Misty Spann, 26, pleads guilty to incest

A Duncan woman who married her biological mother last year received a 10-year deferred sentence Tuesday after pleading guilty in Stephens County to committing incest.

A district judge ordered a deferred sentence of 10 years for Misty Velvet Dawn Spann, 26, stating that she must be under the supervision of the Oklahoma Department of Corrections for at least two years of her total sentence.

Patricia Spann insisted to investigators she didn't have contact with her kids until a few years ago.

Her mother, 44-year-old Patricia Spann, has pleaded not guilty to incest.

She and her mom Patricia, 44, married in Lawton, Oklahoma in March 2016.

Misty Spann also set out to dissolve her and her mother's marriage, filing for an annulment "by reason of illegality and fraud" on September 1, according to online court records. But, the mother did use a fake name on their marriage certificate, just in case.

Patricia "looked into" marrying Misty, and thought it was okay.

In Oklahoma, incest is a felony crime punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

She also was married to her biological son in 2008 in Comanche County, according to Tulsa World. According to local reports, Patricia allegedly married her son because he was in the military, and she wanted to prevent him from going overseas.

Patricia Spann, who is also charged with incest, is set to appear in court in January.

Her mum told authorities that the pair reconnected in 2014 and "hit it off".

The daughter said that her mother had convinced her at the time by saying that their marriage would be considered legal.

KOCO 5 reported Patricia's marriages to her children were "all ploys to manipulate state laws".

"I think she's worthless she put my sister into this". The marriage was later annulled in 2010 after the son opted out of the relation, terming it "incestuous".

"For you to want to put your own daughter through this, what kind of person are you?" The Spann children were raised by their paternal grandmother.
