Conservatives Destroyed Their Keurigs In Solidarity With Sean Hannity

The hashtag #BoycottKeurig trended all throughout Sunday on Twitter as the Fox News host's fans expressed their support. (It's hard to imagine any were frugal enough to wait till they ran out of K-cups to chuck their coffee makers out the window, though.) While Hannity fans work out their frustrations on a machine they'll probably miss later, "The unstated promise is that you'd have no more need for any future Keurig products of any sort", Glickman rightly notes.

Decisions to stop advertising on his programs came after Hannity argued last week that attacks on Moore were politically motivated and that the accusations were "false allegations".

Criticism of Hannity peaked after he referred on his radio show Thursday to "consensual" sex with 17- and 18-year-olds (age of consent in Alabama is 16), which, in the context of the discussion about Moore, was interpreted as including 14-year-olds.

Other advertisers responding to a tweet storm of protest over the weekend included realtor.com, genetic testing company 23 and Me, vitamin company Nature's Bounty and a plus-size fashion firm, Eloquii.

Keurig on Saturday announced that the company would no longer be advertising on Hannity's show as a result of his comments about Moore.

The 55-year-old has even promised to give away 500 coffee machines to replace those from Keurig which have been destroyed.

He is accused of making inappropriate advances and having sexual contact with a 14-year-old. "And there's, I just, I don't know how you find out the truth".

You are likely aware that Keurig became the focus of some media attention over the weekend related to a tweet issued from our official Twitter account on Friday.

Meanwhile, Moore has said the allegations against him are "fake news", and that a lawsuit will be filed over the Washington Post report that detailed alleged incidents.

What's your take on all of this - are people right to be mad at Keurig for pulling its ads from Hannity's show?

On his radio show that day, Hannity and his executive producer Lynda McLaughlin said some of the accusers said their encounters were "consensual".

In a memo to employees on Monday, obtained by The Washington Post's Erik Wemple, CEO Bob Gamgort called Keurig's decision to explain its plan to "pause" its advertising with Hannity's show "highly unusual" and "outside of company protocols". Besides Keurig, only four other companies have abandoned his program. The website's parent company is owned by Rupert Murdoch - the head of Fox News and it's subsidiaries. Fox News swiftly ended its association with O'Reilly three weeks after the sexual harassment claims against him were revealed.
