Manhunt expands for 'cold and callous' gunman after wounding veteran Baltimore detective

Investigators recovered the gun of a slain Baltimore homicide detective from the gritty lot where he was shot, and have determined that it was sacked a few times, a top police official said Friday.

Police Commissioner Kevin Davis said the "cold, callous" shooter was still at large Wednesday night.

Suiter was transported to shock trauma in critical condition Wednesday, and he died Thursday afternoon. Suiter, a homicide detective, was an 18-year veteran of the police force, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Police, federal partners and Metro Crime Stoppers have issued a $69,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. We will find the person responsible for this ridiculous, absurd, unnecessary loss of life, "said Commissioner Davis".

Police officers and Baltimore city leaders gathered at the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center where the detective is on life support in the intensive care unit. "This kind of violence can not be tolerated", she said. "We are absolutely certain that the community will step up again and stand with the Baltimore Police Department to bring this heartless, ruthless, soulless killer to justice". At the direction of Gov. Larry Hogan, the state is offering a $100,000 reward.

"He may be wounded", Davis says. Suiter, who moved to the homicide division after killings in the city surged two years ago, is Baltimore's 309th homicide victim so far this year. Police said he was "conscious and breathing" when he came to the hospital.

"We grieve for his loss, and for the pain and suffering that will be endured by his family and friends", Ryan said. Rest in Peace, Brother. "Sixty-nine thousand dollars is the reward that is being offered to anyone with information that can help us solve this case".
