Big Ol' Scott Frost-Nebraska News Drops While He's Coaching UCF Game

Frost will be officially introduced as Nebraska's head coach during a press conference on Sunday, Dec. 3, at noon.

Update: It was only a matter of time before Nebraska confirmed it had hired former quarterback Scott Frost as its new coach. In 2015, the season before Frost took over, UCF finished with a record of 0-12. The former OR offensive coordinator initially signed on with UCF in the winter of 2015.

He then took Central Florida to a different level this season, rolling to a ideal 12-0 record and then winning the American Athletic Conference Championship on Saturday afternoon with a 62-55 double-overtime victory over Memphis. He will also be bringing several members of his coaching staff from UCF with him including his defensive coordinator Erik Chinander.

Frost replaces Mike Riley, who dismissed after three underwhelming seasons in Lincoln last month.

"I am appreciative of the confidence Bill Moos and our University leadership have in me to lead this program".

As for his playing career, Frost went 24-2 as a two-year starter for Nebraska at quarterback and joined the ranks of legendary Huskers when he guided NU to the 1997 national title. The turnaround from 0-12 to 12-0 in two years is the quickest of its kind in major college football history. Riley only had one season in which the Huskers had a winning season. UCF, Frost's old school, is expected to conduct a press conference Saturday evening to address the departure.

"It is a great honor and privilege to have the opportunity to return to Nebraska and to lead the Husker football program", Frost said.
