Atlanta Falcons at Los Angeles Rams - 1/6/18 NFL Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The Rams suffered a season-ending 26-13 loss to Atlanta during Saturday's Wild Card game at The Coliseum, and the team took quite the pounding on Twitter afterwards.

Last year, it was Atlanta who had the all-conquering offence - what a difference a 12 months makes in the NFL.

They had to settle for field goals on four of six scoring drives.

Here's how the Falcons got it done.

Teams also threw to running backs 8.6 times per game against Atlanta, a mark that ranked third in the league.

The best of that news probably came Friday, when the Rams released their official Wild Card Game injury report and only one player's name was listed on it.

Todd Gurley led all rushers with 101 yards on 14 carries for Los Angeles.

That could mean an end-zone trip for Kupp, who caught 62 passes (on a team-leading 94 targets) for 869 yards and five touchdowns in 15 games. He had only four catches for 10 yards on Saturday night. If not for an inconsequential missed field goal at the end of the Seahawks' game on Sunday, it would have been the Falcons' three-point victory in Seattle on November 20 that would have proved the tiebreaker.

Falcons coach Dan Quinn told the Atlanta-area media on Thursday that Freeman "showed no limitations while running and cutting" during Atlanta's team practice on Thursday.

This was most evident on the Rams' possession right before the two-minute warning in the fourth quarter.

Even more impressive is the fact that three of those field goals are from 56, 51 and 54 yards out. The touchdown was overturned on review.

Many believed Atlanta would be in for a rude awakening traveling across country to take on Los Angeles since Sean McVay's squad would be well rested after a majority of the starters sat in Week 17, but obviously that was far from the case. Deion Jones knocked down Goff's pass that was intended for Sammy Watkins, pretty much locking it up for the Falcons.

Quarterback Matt Ryan is in the playoffs for the sixth time in 10 seasons and still searching for the ultimate prize.

It's true Carolina has one of the NFL's top defences, racking up 50 sacks (third in the league) while boasting the third-best run defence, a unit that allows just 88 yards a game on the ground.

Playoff winning teams typically have proven quarterbacks, giving a significant edge to the Falcons.

Wade Phillips, the well-traveled but long successful defensive coordinator for the Rams, said of the Falcons earlier this week: "They've kind of hit their stride here at the end of the year, as far as their offense goes".
