JMU Football on Practice Field for FCS Championship Game

Top-seeded and defending champion James Madison (14-0) and the No. 2-seeded Bison (13-1) will square off Saturday for the Football Championship Subdivision title in a matchup of the dominant FCS programs with well-traveled contingents.

Stick, the game's Most Outstanding Player, stuck to his word, and the following celebration was a familiar sight for fans in Frisco: North Dakota State has won six of the last seven FCS national championships, making North Texas somewhat of a second home.

NDSU (14-1) also preserved its division-record 33-game winning streak from three years ago, ending James Madison's run at 26 straight, denying the Dukes a second straight title and spoiling what would have been their first undefeated, untied season.

Now North Dakota State is back in the finals, and looking to prove a year ago was a fluke. "There's no doubt. And we're excited about it too". Sacked four times, including twice by defensive end Derrek Tuszka, Schor was 14 of 32 for 148 yards with a pair of interceptions and no touchdowns. That zero changed on the biggest stage and helped NDSU win its sixth FCS championship in seven seasons.

On the play, Shepherd lined up in the slot to quarterback Easton Stick's left. "You're going to have guys injured", Klieman said.

The Dukes lead the country in scoring defense, allowing just 11 points per game.

"Great time to get a first", Klieman said.

"We thought that look could be there", Shepherd said. This isn't the first one of the season.

Marcus Marshall had a 1-yard run for the only touchdown for the Dukes, who lost the turnover battle 3-1 after forcing 10 takeaways in the semifinals. As soon as the clock hit zero, he slid and waited to get mobbed by teammates, while the yellow-clad fans spilled onto the field for the trophy celebration on a stage behind one of the end zones. South Dakota State is the only team to beat North Dakota State this season, 33-21.

Senior linebacker Nick DeLuca missed that game because of injury, so he'd been waiting for over a year to get another shot at the Dukes.

"If you take the busiest day we've ever had, it doesn't compare to when the Bison are here", Verich said. The Dukes are attempting to win back to back national titles.
